Back-to-School Update

Thanks for coming to Open House last night! If you haven't signed up for your child's SeeSaw account, you'll want to. It's free and easy to use! It's also where I'll be uploading our first day of school photos. I'll send another email with a sign-up link. If you're already signed up, please disregard.

I thought of few things you might want to know ...

Snack Time:

We'll have two SMALL snack times each day. Students are responsible to bring their own snacks.  Please make sure this snack is something your child can eat quickly. I prefer healthy snacks like a piece of fruit, yogurt, nuts, or a cheese stick. I'm not aware of any class allergies at this time. If this changes, I will let you know. If you are able to donate crackers for students when they forget, that would be great! :)  Animal crackers, saltines, and cheese crackers are always a good choice. Thanks!

Class Schedule:
  • 8:40  School Begins
  • 11:00-11:20  First Recess
  • 11:50-12:15  LUNCH (Parents are always invited and welcome! We eat lunch in the room on Mondays.)
  • 1:25-1:45  Second Recess
  • 2:30-3:20  Enrichment Class (11-11:50 on Fridays due to early dismissal)
    • Monday:  P.E. (Be sure to wear tennis shoes.)
    • Tuesday:  Language Lab
    • Wednesday:  Music
    • Thursday:  Library

Scholastic Book Order: Class Code:  J6MJ4

Many time parents will ask what they donate to the classroom to help. Crackers (as mentioned above) are always welcome. Books are always needed too. When you purchase books for your child through Scholastic, I earn free books for our classroom library.

I will be sending home flyers each month, but the first month is the best month to order. That's the month Scholastic gives up to 10,000 bonus points to teachers. If you want to access the flyers and order online, this link will get you to the right spot: http://www.scholastic.com/parents/resources/article/more-reading-resources/scholastic-book-clubs-getting-started .

You'll need to put in our class code so we get the free books. It's J6MJ4

Parent Volunteers:

Parents are ALWAYS welcome to volunteer in the classroom! Let me know if you're interested, and I'll put you to work. Last year, parents wanting to attend the field trip had to fill out the volunteer form on Nixa's website. As far as I know, it's the same this year. We are considering going to a cave this fall, so you'll want to have yours ready to go. I will get dates to you as soon as I have them. Here's the link to volunteer: https://www.nixapublicschools.net/Domain/271.

About Your Child:

I really want to know as much as I can about your child. Many of you have already filled out the form that was in your back-to-school letter. Thank you! If you haven't had a chance, here's the link:  https://tinyurl.com/y9wegsj9.

Be sure to stay in touch. I want to hear from you, and I want your child to want to come to school. Let's work together to make this the best year possible!

Working together,
~Mrs. Cheryl Dick
